Meet our chiropractor and massage therapists

Reif Thalji, DC

Chiropractor

Welcome to a path of more balanced living. Chiropractic care is, at its heart, an invitation for your body to heal itself. By focusing on the delicate alignment of the spine, Dr. Thalji has worked for almost 25 years in the Cypress area, to remove the barriers to your well-being, allowing your nervous system to flow freely and allow your body to heal, both spinally and muscularly.

Completing his undergraduate work at the University of Houston, Dr. Thalji majored in Kinesiology, or the study of the movement of the body. From there he went on to Texas Chiropractic College where he learned the skills and techniques necessary to provide caring and effective care to his patients.

If you have been living with persistent pain or a restricted range of motion, please know that lasting relief is possible. Dr. Thalji's approach utilizes precise, patient-focused adjustments designed to ease the strain on your joints and nerves, as well as very targeted muscle work to make adjustments not only easier but longer lasting. It’s about more than just a temporary fix; it’s about restoring the mobility that makes every single day more enjoyable and active.

When your spine is properly aligned, your entire body can function with greater energy, clarity, and strength. From improved sleep quality to a more robust immune response, the benefits of care ripple outward into every part of your life.

We look forward to walking this journey of health and vitality alongside you.

Shannon Thalji, LMT

Licensed Massage Therapist

Massage therapy is a gentle, intentional practice focused on soothing the body's soft tissues to alleviate the physical burdens of stress and repetitive strain. By using skilled touch to release tight muscles and improve circulation, we help dissolve the knots of tension that cause discomfort, allowing you to breathe deeper and move with renewed ease and freedom from pain.

In our clinic, massage is the perfect companion to your chiropractic journey. While adjustments focus on structural alignment, massage therapy prepares and calms the surrounding muscles, supportively helping your body adapt to its healthier posture. This integrated approach speeds recovery and ensures your path to wellness is as smooth and comfortable as possible.

Whether you are recovering from an injury or simply looking for a moment of peace, our sessions offer a warm and reassuring way to care for yourself. We are dedicated to providing a healing environment where your comfort comes first, helping you rediscover your body's natural resilience and the clarity that comes from a relaxed and balanced mind.

Leon Lai, LMT

Licensed Massage Therapist

Inspired by the passing of his late sister, Leon felt the calling to help people who were in pain. To do that, he sought out different techniques, skills and information to allow him to custom tailor his massage therapy sessions to the problematic issues that ail so many of us. For 22 years now, his goal in performing deep tissue, sports massage, craniosacral technique and more, is to treat you, the client, very specifically and quickly so that you can return to a functional lifestyle.

He enjoys the work he does here at Back and Body of Cypress, because he feels as relaxed as he would like all his clients to feel, based on an environment of well being.

When he is not massaging, Leon enjoys the experience of different cuisines with friends and his wife. He also enjoys working out and playing pickle ball.

Mariah Thomas, LMT

Licensed Massage Therapist

Mariah has always been fascinated by body science and human anatomy. As a lifelong basketball player, she knew she wanted to work with the body, so she first pursued Physical Therapy and volunteered in several PT clinics. Over time, she realized traditional PT wasn’t the right fit, and felt called toward a more holistic approach to healing—especially for athletes. That’s when Mariah decided to help create a space where holistic therapy and sports could truly meet, and massage therapy became the perfect path.

Her favorite modalities include deep tissue, sports massage, skin rolling, aromatherapy, and myofascial release to support recovery, mobility, and overall well-being of all her clients.

When Mariah is not helping people throught massage, she enjoys playing basketball, singing, walking in nature, writing and reading, watching suspenseful or scary movies and shows, and exploring new food spots and hangout places.

Her favorite part about working at Back and Body of Cypress is the calm, welcoming environment and the people who make it that way. She feels that meeting new clients and learning their stories has helped her grow—not only as a therapist, but as a person—and is truly grateful to be here.
